Children’s museums, education-based and firmly rooted in informal learning philosophy, are designed to stimulate the imagination, create environments of discovery, immerse children in open-ended opportunities for self-realization and celebrate belonging to a place.
The museum is located in the former downtown (city) elementary school, an altogether appropriate setting and former life for this reincarnation as a welcoming, fun and entertaining environment containing broad-based exhibits on science, engineering, art, literature, culture, geography, and history. It relates to its region, its community, its children and their learning needs. The gymnasium was renovated to house a large gallery while former classrooms were converted into separate galleries.
Play is one of the most important experiences of early childhood development, and we are proud to play our part.
